Friday! Friday! It’s weird how even when you are a stay at home mom you get excited about Fridays. It’s something about them that is more exciting than all the other days of the week. Even if there is nothing major planned for the weekend, they are just more special! Anywho, time for Friday Favorites!
Splash Parks:
This week it has been so crazy stinking hot!! I’m seriously loving the splash park for B as well as for me! We head over there after play group or a long walk and B has a total blast! I also get to cool off which is really nice! We also went to the lake this week which was a ton of fun. Basically just loving anything water related right now! Stay cool!
Shower curtains as curtains:
We don’t have fancy curtains in our house. We have some hand me downs from my mom in the living room and other than that we are rocking just blinds and in our bedroom, blankets tacked over them (shameful I know)! Now that I have a sewing machine (yay) I have been planning my curtain projects! You can buy a cloth shower curtain for $20, cut it in half lengthwise, fold and pin the ragged edge and do a quick stitch and BAM! you’ve got yourself an adorable set of curtains! This is the one I just got for the bedroom from Target. Say sayonara to those ugly blankets!!
This quote:
Some days I feel like I fail epically as a mother. Whether it’s B throwing a crazy tantrum in a store while I’m experiencing hanger so I get mad at him or the fact that he subsisted for a day on a million frozen waffles and a mini pizza, being a mom is hard work. And every new baby just adds a new layer of uncertainty so you’re never really a “pro”. There is no right way or wrong way to parent (exceptions being of course beating your children or not feeding them etc.) Your children think the world of you so just do your best to stay calm and give them as many positive examples of how to act as respectful, intelligent human beings and I say you’ve got a win on your hands!
Weekly meal prep:
Last night I prepped a bunch of lunches for the week while making dinner. Over the course of an hour I managed to put together 4 lunches in portioned containers, make dinner which will last for 2 meals so there were leftovers, and have extra lunch prep sides that will be part of dinner later in the week. I bought Ziploc portion containers and they are awesome! I grilled pork chops and bbq chicken and then roasted some sweet potatoes, made some quinoa and steamed broccoli and green beans! If you take a few minutes to plan out your eating week and then execute prep accordingly, you can save big at the grocery store as well as having no brainer healthy meals to eat all week which takes the guessing game out of it and doesn’t leave room for unhealthy slips because there are no excuses to not eat the healthy meal that is already prepped and ready to pop in the microwave for a minute.
Pinteresting tattoo ideas:
Roarke totally planted seeds in my brain! He recently got his own pinterest account and spends his time looking at tattoo ideas, guns and camping stuff. I have quite a few tattoos already (6) and some of them are bigger pieces (cherry blossom tree covering my whole right side). Roarke has a few and definitely wants more. Now that I’ve kind of switched gears on my thoughts for a career, there are really no restrictions on what I can and can’t get for tattoos. I really want to get a tattoo for B and now that we have baby O on the way, I’ve been planning my tattoo that will incorporate something for both boys in the same piece. I’m really excited about it and want baby O to get here already so I can go get inked up!! I’m going to be one hot tattoo’d mama!!
Hope you’re having a fantastic Friday so far! It’s pretty gray here today so probably more sewing on the horizon today! When I get the curtains hung I’ll be sure to share a picture!
